Riyadh: A Saudi delegation led by the Family Affairs Council (FAC) took part in the second G20 Empowerment of Women Working Group (EWWG) meeting, held in South Africa from May 8–9 under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.”
The delegation presented key initiatives and achievements by the Kingdom in empowering women and strengthening family roles in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Maimouna Al Khalil, Secretary-General of the FAC and head of the Saudi delegation, highlighted the essential role women play in economic growth and family well-being.
She also stressed Saudi Arabia's commitment to reinforcing family structures through awareness campaigns and expanding support services.
The EWWG discussions this year focused on South Africa’s G20 presidency priorities, including the care economy, women's financial inclusion, and efforts to combat violence against women and feminicide.
The FAC led the delegation due to its expertise in women’s and family issues and its role as the Kingdom’s representative in related international platforms.
The EWWG aims to promote women's social and economic empowerment and share best practices among member states, with recommendations to be submitted to G20 leaders at the annual summit.
